Encinitas is a coastal city in San Diego, California, and is ideal for families looking for a beach vacation but want to also experience some unique attractions.

Encinitas Highlights and Features:

  • July and August are the best months to visit Encinitas. You'll enjoy the warm weather and avoid the 'May Gray' and 'June Gloom' dull weather.
  • Moonlight Beach and Swami's Beach are the two main beaches. Both have restrooms, parking lots and picnic facilities.
  • Encinitas Fall Festival, held every November, features local arts and crafts.
  • Held every September, the Wavecrest Woodie Meet is the largest rally of wooden bodied vehicles in the world and is free to visit.
  • The annual Oktoberfest is held in the third Sunday every September to coincide with the German celebration.
  • The San Diego Botanic Garden has the largest interactive children's garden on the West Coast. Children under 2 go free. Adults cost $8, children 3 - 12, $6.
  • San Dieguito Heritage Museum preserves the local history. It regularly runs kids events throughout the year.
  • Visit one of the many art galleries. The Off Track Gallery and Michael Seewald Art Gallery are two that can be found here.
  • The Lux Art Institute offers 'Family Fridays', a fun art session for kids.
